What I’m About…
I’m a self taught artist who loves God, my family, art, books, music and a good joke. I’ve a heart that beats to it’s own rhythm, albeit too fast for most mere mortals. I’ve been blessed with the love of my 2 beautiful daughters, 2 Sons In Love, Our AHMAZING Grandson & the Best Man I know. They make my life an adventure worth living, no matter what the day brings.
I created this site to share my faith, my art and my health journey in the mundane and the simple beauty of striving to live life abundantly, no matter the circumstances.
My art has been a “late in life” dream, that proves you’re never too old to start that new chapter, no matter the obstacles. I’ve spent the last 25 years battling Chronic Illness that has shaped me in ways that I never expected and continues to humble and inspire me to continually reclaim my life and dreams.
Art has been therapy for my soul and brought mental balance to a body that is constantly at war within itself. My art allows me to share my creativity, hopes, fears and honesty. My wish is that it conveys my choice to live in a joyful reflection of my faith and the journey my life has taken.
Glorifying God through my creativity and honesty about living with chronic illness, is part of who I am. I wish that we can encourage one another and show up in ways to suggest that even if we can’t get out into the world as much, we can still help, and lift up one another. This desire has brought me to share what has helped me heal, accept and reflect, to others as I go on my journey through life.
After much prayer and discussion, I am currently studying to receive my Non Clinical, Therapeutic Art Coach Certification. I hope to give others who need healing an outlet and a tool to learn how to help themselves and just get better, no matter what that may look like to the rest of the world. Again, my faith and my art has been such a healing voice for me and I know it has for so many others, that I can’t help but thank God for the opportunities that I can share this with you.
While each of us have an individual health history, mine has required nutrition that is simple and whole. This has also been just one part of adapting to my chronic illnesses. I will also be sharing that information on my blog, “The Carnivore Artist”, and my instagram account of the same name, “@thecarnivoreartist” . I also have a private group within my facebook page, Jenny Dennis Art.
Both of these accounts will be focused on my artwork, but the new one will share more about my health journey and hopefully encourage others to share their own stories. So, if you want to learn more - please sign up for the group or follow. If you don’t and you’re just here for the art, I hear you :) and don’t worry - as always, I won’t be spamming ya! My ig “@jennydennis_blueberryhill and my website will still be dedicated to my artwork, creativity and the occasional pic of Sochi, because she’s amazing.
I’m so excited about these new ways of connecting with everyone and how wonderful it is, that art is still the common thread that ties it all together for me.
As always, I have enjoyed donating pieces to local churches and other worthy causes. If you think that I could help your organization with a creative donation, please email me. I’d love to help!
I hope my story and paintings inspire you to smile, wonder, find a new passion, or remember and rediscover one. And most importantly, point you to the Creator!
Thank you for letting me share my story with you through my creativity- Jenny
Artist’s Statement & CV
Jenny E. Dennis has had a lifelong love of art, starting in the first grade, when she saw Monet in a textbook. She was born in NY, but found her way to Del Rio, TN by way of the Florida beaches. Living in East TN since she was 8, she’s a proud mountain girl with an enduring love for the sea and her adopted mountains. These loves, as well as her Christian faith, greatly influence her passion for color, texture and movement in her artwork.
Jenny is a self-taught expressionist artist who loves Jesus and has a passion for color, nature and joy. This pursuit comes through in her works, whether it be canvas, wood, fabric or stationery.
“I attempt to paint what I see- constant movement. I love to blend colors that change in the light or darkness. I use a heavy hand, with a love of texture and free form. I’m inspired by the beauty that is all around us, and by the faithfulness of God, the Creator. As a lover of words, I create with my favorite titles and dialogue as inspiration to guide my painting stories.”
